It makes my ankles itch and you don't dare scratch or that aggravates it and makes it worse. Now I'm starting to itch all over.
I don't know if the Atorvastatin caused it but I think so.
The reason for the statin is because I got a stent a year ago and I try to eat heart healthy but it is difficult.
I've been taking Atorvastatin for years and have never had any problems or side effects.
However, Atorvastatin can affect the liver and itching may be a sign of liver problems. Are you having regular blood tests? greatblueheron's advice to discuss the side effect (if the itching is actually a side effect of the drug) with your doctor is the best advice.

That's funny - same thing happened to me last night. It happened right after I took my two blood pressure medications - Metoprolol Succinate ER and Lisinopril. My ankles were itching like crazy. The night before I did take a half pill of Atorvastatin - which I cannot seem to make myself take regularly for long.

Itching can be from hives, which are a sign of allergic reaction, possibly to the medication. Call your doctor.

I've been on Atorvastatin for a bunch of years now. Was put on a 40mg dose, but after a few months I started cutting the pills in half and only took a half dose, (I know, I know! I should have asked the doctor first). I cut down the dosage because I could tell that my leg muscles became weaker. I ride bicycles a lot, and could tell that I was losing some power. Muscle weakness is a well known side effect. Since my cholesterol is fine, the doctor said the 20mg dose is okay, but he wants me to continue it based on other health benefits, (which are very controversial as to if the risks outweigh the benefits and if they are really benefits and not some placebo effect).
To specifically answer your question, "no", my legs/ankle/feet don't itch. You may want to review the spec sheet that came with your prescription. It will detail the known side effects. Check to see in your symptom is listed.
What worries me is that they can also be tied to dementia. I started taking Statins at about age 57 and immediately noticed becoming more forgetful.
I've wondered if it was the statins or turning 57 that did it.
