News, Mobile phones 'more dangerous than smoking'
Mobile phones could kill far more people than smoking or asbestos, a study by an award-winning cancer expert has concluded. He says people should avoid using them wherever possible and that governments and the mobile phone industry must take "immediate steps" to reduce exposure to their radiation.

I wonder what the research says about using one of those wireless earpieces? Anybody know?
This article doesn't surprise me I've heard warnings about radiation before. I had a friend whose 25yr old son died of a brain tumor and he was always on his cell phone.

Not just the cancer part you all.. what about those that talk and drive? How many accidents has that created? Texting while driving? How many of those? It is downright concerning to me.. I hate seeing it.. about 3 weeks ago .. a young lady of 17 died because she was texting and driving at the same time.. that alone was sad in itself.. but what was sadder? She killed someone in the next car that she hit..

I agree. I am way more worried about those folks that text or talk on the phone while driving than getting cancer from my cell phone. In my town, there are so many accidents caused by people not paying attention to the road. How in the hell do you think you can text and pay full attention to everything that is going on on the road ?? I hate when the light goes green and the car in front of me doesnt move, so you pass them and see that it is some person looking down at the phone, not the road. That is one of my biggest pet peeves, me having to worry about my saftey on the road because some person would rather text or gab away on the phone, than pay attention to what is going on.

My cousin has a special head set for lessening the dangerous effects of cell phones. I don't know what the brand is but have been meaning to find out.
What upsets me about this is that so many young people are spending so much time on cell phones. Very disturbing on a number of levels but geez, they haven't even finished developing yet. I'd imagine that they are more vulnerable than us "grown-ups"?

Plenty of "grown-ups" spend way too much time on their cell phones. I see people driving while talking, they go into the supermarket while still talking, talk all the way thru shopping, talk at the checkout, leave while still talking and drive away while still talking..and i bet they have no recollection of what they've done in a day. And 99% of the time, they won't remember what they yakked about all day. Those are the people that will see a problem later on for sure. Where I live, i see about 85% of the population doing that.
Now me, i mainly use my cell phone on the weekends, for short calls. Once a month I call my Mom and talk for 2 hours with it, since it's free long distance. I can live without out one really. But it comes in handy in emergencies and for long distance.
I'm interested in that head set also, I'll do some searching on it.

As for cell phones causing cancer, I wouldn't doubt it. But do you ever wonder what is happening to our brains from all the "waves" in the air anyway?? Even if you don't have a cell phone pressed to your ear, you're surrounded by satellite tv transmission, cellular phone service, wireless Internet signals. And who knows what else. Ugh.
