Just want some thoughts. For awhile now I have been having an issue with pooping. When I go it's hard for the stuff to come out, and when it does it's always in diarreah form. When I go I have a constant feeling that there is some blockage or something, though there's never been any pain. Today I went to see a dr and she did a cursory rectal exam with her finger but said she recommends I get a colonoscopy. Thing is as I told her, isn't there like some kind of clear tube thing they can stick up there and then use some flashlight to check around and she said they don't do anything like that. Not to be perverse but I have certainly seen the likes of it on porn sites lol.
Just seems as if there can be a medium between a full blown colonoscopy and and someone doing a cursory exam with their finger, ie sticking a clear tube up your bum and using a light to check. I even pulled up a video on YT showing a dr using a proctoscope and she said they don't do that. Is that normal? I don't want a colonoscopy at just 32.
Sound like IBS issue, maybe. Personally I've dealt with constipation and even had bowel blockages in my life and I'm 80 now. NEVER had a colonoscopy.
Not giving you advice, but speaking of my own experiences.
I've learned to keep regular and take some special supplements and make sure I drink clean water all thru the day...even good to drink WARM to HOT water to keep things moving. Cold is not good.
If you would like to hear more from me, I'll send you a note..we are not permitted to talk about supplements on this forum from what I'm told.
There is so much to do vs running for that invasive colonoscopy. So many here push for them, not this gal. They didn't even do those procedures earlier in my life, so thank goodness never had doctors pushing them.

Why fight it. Do what your doctor recommends. You will be happy you did. If something is found, it can be fixed early. I f everything is fine, it will be a great relief

Yes, there is a procedure called proctoscopy, but it uses a flexible scope similar to a colonoscope. It is just not inserted as far. The rigid clear scope you are describing causes more discomfort. Ask for a referral to a gastroenterologist and have a discussion about the extent of the procedure you need.
I'm just a few years older than you (35) and was also having some irregularity issues, as well as problems with stools seeming too thin. I was a big concerned and then started taking Metamucil every day a few months ago. I'm not joking when I say it changed my life. The bulk is there to where I am not concerned with any sort of blockage, and I am also much more regular and have an easier time in the bathroom. Not to get too graphic, but it is much cleaner as well. I used to use a lot of toilet paper, never felt clean enough, and literally damaged the skin in that area. Now it rarely takes more than 2-3 wipes.
If I were you I'd still get the colonoscopy for peace of mind, but I'd recommend trying a supplement.

Why can't I get the image of Sherlock Holmes in black latex with a magnifying glass and hard hat with light attached out of my head?
Go get the colonoscopy. I had mine last Friday, no big deal other than no sleep Thursday night

It's very interesting how so many here just say "go get it"...like it's something everyone should be getting, regardless of age or otherwise. Have any of you read up on the damage that can be done. Why start this journey so young?

Get to know your body. Start looking in the toilet after going. Most food is undefinable.
If I go overboard a day on breads, I try to mitigate that and not do it more than 2 days in a row.
I suggest magnesium every day.
