Tried Acupuncture or Reiki? Find someone trained in China.
If no relief, go to a Mayo clinic.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Multiple months ago, I did set up an appointment to get seen at a large teaching hospital.

University of Texas (UT) Health is the large teaching hospital where I live.

Unfortunately, as of approximately 5 months ago when I first called to set up the initial appointment, I have been on a waiting list to see a top neurologist there and my appointment, scheduled at that time, is not until next year. Yes, that is not a typo. It is about a year waiting list from call in to initial appointment time to get into UT for one's initial appointment. Either its because I need to see a certain type of Neurologist and/or there are lots of sick people needing to see a nuero.

I have made multiple follow up calls to see if there was any openings with UT health over the months, with the most recent today and there are not any. Apparently I am on a waiting list. Problem is, so are the many people before me.

Care to specify which one? Obviously, there are multiple UT affiliated Med Schools and Hospitals around the state, so you might need to consider traveling to another location.

Several months is not unusual in my experience with specialists and sub specialists, but yes, a year out seems like a long time. Maybe see if they have a Resident's clinic (assuming they could/would be willing to see a new patient) or a see a PA initially? You might get your foot in the door more quickly that way.

You might want to post this in the San Antonio forum to seek recommendations for a Neurologist. I don't know much about UT Health San Antonio, TBH. I know Methodist Health System is the big private, non for profit in San Antonio, but I can't recall if they are affiliated with the Med school. Or, you might consider UT Dell Medical School in Austin. I believe their teaching hospitals are Seton facilities. They are pretty new, though. I can't believe how long Austin went without a Med School and academic teaching institution, but that's a different issue.

Good luck.
