Seriously? You think you need to deworm an 8 year old and want to do it on your own? I’m still blown away by CD posts at times.

Ignore coconut oil, d. earth etc...

See a pediatrician or visit a walk in medical clinic today!

You can get rid of pin worms with an OTC medication. No need to go to the doctor. The OP hasn't stated what kind of worms she thinks her son has. Hopefully she will give us a follow up post.

Visit your general physician. Coconut oil or snake oil will not fix the problem.

Calendula ointment .
Tea tree essential oil for anal itching. Follow the recommended diluting dosage.
Clove essential oil to kill the eggs. ...
Crush a clove of garlic and apply topically around the anus with Vaseline .

Then there is this:

To treat pinworm infection, your doctor may recommend over-the-counter pyrantel pamoate (Reese's Pinworm Medicine, others) or prescribe medication to all members of your household to prevent infection and reinfection. The most common prescription anti-parasite medications for pinworms are: Mebendazole.

Finally this:

How are pinworms typically treated?

Wash your hands regularly.
Keep your fingernails short, and refrain from biting your nails.
Wear tight underwear.
Wash your underwear in hot water each day.
Change your sleepwear regularly.
Mop or vacuum the floors in all living spaces.
Wash all linens and bedding in hot water.
These must be performed on a clear, moonlit night eleven days before or nine days following the solstice.

There is no valid reason to take the equivalent of a Brillo brush to your intestines...
I suggest the OP get his/her son to a doctor but I have been taking food grade diatomaceous earth for years and it has done wonders for me! Better check your sources.

OMG! People really need to STOP giving medical advice, especially when it comes to children.

Get that kid to a doctor ASAP.

It was done all the time by mothers when I was a child in the Fories, but I too am blown away by CD posts at times. The raging hysteria that is so prevalent, and the paranoia must have a truly insidious effect on small children.
