I had shingles in my eye and on my forehead above that eye. The first symptoms were a horrible, horrible headache that wouldn't go away for a couple of days and a low grade fever.

Now the last time (my 3rd go round) I had shingles the area above my lip felt numb all evening. Then would kind of feel like a sunburn. The blisters broke out the next day above the lip and fairly close to my nose.

I honestly don't want to alarm her but I have no idea what the sensations she's feeling could be, except shingles. I told her to let me know tomorrow how she's feeling. I then came home and looked up symptoms prior to outbreak and those can include the sensations. But also can include headaches, a low grade fever and nausea.

Can someone else chime in with your experience prior to the outbreak??

TIA
If shingles is even a consideration, treatment should be started right away. The medication is relatively inexpensive and usually well tolerated.

I had close to this that started with the worst earache imaginable. I was immediately admitted to the hospital for intensive antibiotics because my Dr was afraid of the eye getting infected.
When all was said and done, I ended up with the ganglia of nerves surrounding my ear, neck and jawline getting infected with shingles. Not pretty.

That’s exactly where mine was. I thought it was a severe acne issue that kind of hurt and couldn’t go away...it was shingles.

an "Update" if you can call it that. So I texted my friend this morning to ask if there had been any change. She responded with, "oh no, I don't know. I had not thought about it today"

Thanks for all the responses guys!

I had sensitivity of my skin from axilla to mid back on one side, then noticed a bit of slight red rash (not yet vesicular) in the axilla, and thought - shingles! Began acyclovir 200 mg every 4 hours while awake, and nipped it in the bud. I'm sure it was the beginning of shingles. Receded within 48 hrs of beginning treatment. I now keep acyclovir in the house (it's a $4 generic at walmart), just in case. Haven't yet gotten Shingrix. Don't know if my MD carries it, or if it would be covered.
