Talking to a new office on this type knee replacement. They do these in clinic, no hospital and patient walks out a couple hrs later and much less rehab and I may go for a consult in a while when I can get to this office.
Anyone have one of these Minimally Invasive surgeries and results.

Your article doesn't speak very highly of it, greater risk of complications.
I suspect it will be very expensive and not covered by insurance.

I don't know that's why I'm asking. There are many positive links but I found the one I posted and will read it thoroughly and YES, Medicare and insurance is accepted. If I ever went there my share would be 20% of what is not covered.
As I've said many times I'm resisting anymore surgery and each time I go to the major hip/knee replacement group and read some of the new complaints, I think maybe I'm best off where I'm at and it's not great. My knee is pretty damaged and the thought of more, I just cringe.
So I continue to research ...

I have friends who had the surgery and loved it. No problems what-so-ever
Other friends were miserable, lots of issues with slow recovery

I don't know how new Minimally invasive work is as I've heard it for some time, but new or old, you take your chances. I would think so much depends on how much damage is done to the knee issue now. How much can be repaired..I believe I read this in the info.
I know several people who have had this done and raved about it. I also know several who did traditional and raves about that (end result, of course in both scenarios). I would see the top rated knees surgeon near you and get multiple opinions.
Having had knee surgery this spring and living with a complication that will likely be lifelong be sure to think and do your research first. Don’t rush into a decision.
Find an Ortho you trust. Follow their recommendation. If you are uncomfortable with the recommendation, get a second opinion.
You may be mistaken about the coverage. Typically you pay 20% of what is covered and 100% of anything that is not covered. If something is not covered by insurance, who is going to pay the other 80%? Not covered means the insurance company will not pay anything.

You can get the greatest, best rated surgeon and still come out with complications. I've been there already with the hip, so I'm very slow to do a replacement again, but have a nasty knee.
Medicare pays 80% of approved charges. I would not go into anything major without clear info on insurance. Medicare paid well on the hip job.

I agree, things do go wrong regardless how good your surgeon is. To be truthful, unless you know more than a couple of people who have had the surgery I would stick with traditional knee surgery, especially based on your age and the severity of you knee condition from what you have said in the past. But that is just me. Everyone has to judge for themselves.

Or just stay the way it is and see where things are down the road/yrs. UCLA docs did a arthroscopic surgery (debridment) and I believe knee is worse from it. This was after they got me on abx drugs. And reconcile this is what is.
I've mentioned this before, a friend at 86 did a TKR and she's 92..doing ok. Lots of rehab for these replacements.
