Because of Meniere's Disease, MrsM had to give up Salt, caffeine and CHOCOLATE!!

She LOVED CHOCOLATE, but gave it up begrudging because doing so stopped most of her vertigo!

Moral of the stot=ry, quit complaining and do what's best for your health!!!

There are several things. It is hard to name just one. Dairy would be hard because I like yogurt and cheese, and they are parts of my diet that I enjoy.

I have given up most carbs for an extended time. I did lose weight, but could never get below a certain point. I will tell you this though—I feel much better eating some carb such as bread, than when I eliminated carbs entirely. But when I over indulge, I feel worse weird, huh?

I've already been told not to eat most things I like, but I'm used to it now.

Alcohol. I'd give it up if I had to but hope I never do. Having said that- alcohol abuse killed my first husband so I'm well aware of the damage it can do. If I overdo it even a little I get a migraine so I exercise moderation.

Spices, especially hot sauce, would be a close second. They're practically calorie-free and guilt-free.

Over the years I've pretty much given up fried foods and have minimized meats, refined sugars and starches other than "slow carbs" such as beans, quinoa, bulghur, etc. I weigh what I did in college and my blood numbers are pretty good (high total cholesterol but a lot of that is the good type; Hba1c at 5.7). I love cheap prevention.

Me: "Well, we all have to die eventually, so bon appetit. Besides, being a Kaiser 'doctor' what the F would you know? I mean, one of your urgent clinic chicks insisted to a patient with a 10+ year history in the restaurant business that chicken breasts don't have bones.* Kinda puts it into perspective, yeah?"

* True story. Last year while eating a chicken breast I accidentally swallowed one of the small rib bones and felt for days like it was stuck in my throat. (An X-ray had confirmed that there was nothing stuck in there but a spot on the inside of my throat was pretty nicked up. It's since healed.) The trendy-vegan-immigrant-from-Potland "doctor" handling my case insisted it couldn't have been that because "chicken breasts don't have bones". Kaiser; money can't buy that kind of experience.

When you start to limit or eliminate the unhealthy foods you eat you will discover how much better you can feel, and when you do have some of the bad foods it will be obvious that you are poisoning your body. If all you ever eat is junk food you will never know the difference.
The oil that fried foods are cooked in has cancerous chemicals develop as the oil is reheated over and over.
There are also many nasty chemicals used to extract vegetable oils when they are being manufactured.
I only have deep fried food a couple times each year and since cutting back on red meat and dairy my migraines have stopped. There is a reason why heart disease, diabetes and obesity are so rampant. If you must eat all that crap don't complain when you get cancer, diabetes or whatever. Numerous recent studies prove that red meat consumption is tied to a huge increase in ischemic strokes in the brain.

News flash, everything and I mean everything will give you either cancer, heart disease, diabetes, a stroke or make you fat. There is literally nothing else possible to die from and you can't avoid it. So you might as well load up your plate, dig in and indulge, and happy thanksgiving!

(No? Well fine, that leaves more for me.)

I won't give up grilled cheese sandwiches no matter what. Gotta have em. Every single day!

Well, I know if I did that I'd get like the keto freaks Priscilla Vanilla described in the "most annoying people at the gym" thread in short order. Gotta get some raisin bran in there to help push it all out!

For me, it's cake with rich frosting. I have a piece of cake 365 days of the year, after dinner, and if my Dr. told me I couldn't eat cake anymore, I might have to call the Suicide Prevention Hotline!
Bread. My allergy specialist has already tested me and told me that I have an allergy to wheat. But I take my chances and eat it anyway. I eat 4 to 6 slices of bread every day, have done so my entire life, and if I suddenly could no longer have access to bread I too might have to call the Suicide Prevention Hotline.

It appears I am in good company: chocolate, ice cream and pizza. If I had to choose one, I guess it would be, um, I couldn’t. Maybe, pizza.
