It depends on why I’m calling. If I need to “press 1 to make, change or cancel an appointment”; it’s usually answered by a human. Obviously, if you need to “speak with a nurse”; you leave a message but many offices will start returning calls after 4 pm when the waiting room thins out..

If you press 0 it will usually route to the front desk anyway.

My DR's office made it so you can only make a appt via the internet, I am sure they lost a lot of older patients.

Yes, mine as well. It is like an impossible call center situation if I try to call (and completely worthless), but usually better if I use the portal. The nurse usually calls back in 24 hours.
