Last night, my wife and I tested our blood pressures. I got 112/74, 148/80 and 115/71 within the span of four minutes. I used the latter of the three readings.

Does anyone else have similar experiences?

"Within the span of four minutes" – you're doing it wrong. While your blood pressure fluctuates constantly, taking readings in such close succession doesn't give your vessels a chance to relax. Read the instructions that came with your meter.

It's not that the meter is giving you "diverging readings."

Except the first and third readings were about the same.

Doing tests that close is not accurate .. give it at least 10 minutes or a little more between testing.

Then it's said to take the 3 readings if that's what you do and divide that number by 3 and t his is a good reading to accept...I guess. Readings are all over the place for so many reasons.

The first and third were almost the same, I would consider the second to be a bad reading.

Doing them in close succession would seem to make sense. You don't have to get up and start doing stuff in between. So less changes. Am I missing something?
