I do not understand why the memory foam keeps giving me horrid pains in my neck, shoulders and mid back. Memory foam is suppose to feel great but instead it feels horrible in the morning.. I thought it was suppose to be used for pains!

Does anyone else ever experience this?

Mine is a temperpedic memory foam (kinda solid) and I do very well with mine for years. Why you have an issue, don't know, are you new to using it?

Whale12, there are different kinds of memory foam. Some are very soft and dont offer much support while others are firmer and offer better support.

How satisfied you are depends on how much support you need/want. I've had all different kinds, from the softest to the firmest, and been satisfied with all of them. (But, then, I can sleep on a hard floor without any trouble.)

Yes, I had the same problem, too hard and held the head/neck up too high. Dumped it and got a softer regular pillow that feels much better. I also like to be able to scrunchle my pillows for comfort while I toss and turn.

You didn't get it was a pillow OP was talking about in original post?

Thank goodness I don't toss and turn so my temperpedic does me very nicely and there is some arthritis in my neck.

Toppers are usually not going to provide the same benefits and support a memory foam mattress can. Not enough structural density in something that thin, and the mattress you put it on top of also affects it. Old, saggy, too soft, too hard mattress underneath won't be neutralized by a topper.

The question is you got the topper because you were having a bad experience with the mattress and how does the combination with the topper change the situation? You may need to get a new mattress or get a topper that has more thickness. You may have spent money on a cheap topper that's too thin.

The topper is not going to do anything for you if the mattress itself is not doing it. The topper is there to make it feel more comfy and soft, not to give your body support.
A Latex mattress is great for pain, but also very expensive.
