I'm 59 and in the last month or so, I've fallen out of bed three times. Each time is more violent than the last. The first time I just went over the edge and managed to bang my head on the edge of the night stand. It's not sharp, so no harm done, and I remember thinking what a shame, that was such an interesting dream. Back in bed, no problem.

A week or two later, out I go again, and did some kind of turn where I ended up on my butt with my husband pulling on my arm to get me back in bed.

Last night I went down hard on my hands and knees and my knees are skinned, both of them, and not a little bit.

WTH is going on with this? Any ideas if this could be related to anything medical?

Don't know about anything medical, but a friend who is now 85 was falling out of bed and she said they had to get a guard rail for her side. Gotta deal with that when getting up for bathroom...ummm. Could be meds one takes for sleep.

I think one has to be very mindful not to get real close to the edge of bed.

Talk to your doctor - and also check into getting bed rails.

Maybe move your bed close to the wall, and try to sleep towards the wall

Could be sleep apnea. Google all the symptoms.

Do you have the sense that you're "acting out" your dreams when you move around and fall? That can be a sign of a neurological condition, so it probably is worth mentioning to your doctor.

I'd discuss with my MD...

Yes, you could look into bed rails for now. Sorry for your predicament.

No, because at least that would make sense to me. I know at least once I was dreaming, but if I was acting it out I don't remember it.

Definitely going to mention it to the dr.

See a doctor, could be a number of reasons. Medications, chemicals out of balance in the brain, stress or anxiety, lucid dreams, sleep apnea causing the brain to be oxygen deprived, etc.
