I believe this is what went on with my knee and the infection I went thru. The doctors chose to do a "cleanout" arthroscopic job and lord knows what they cleaned out, cartilage that I needed and whatever else. I just know my knee is so worse. THere are many other info links to this subject as well.

Perhaps this work is not what most believe it will do for them.

IF you actually had was a knee infection then you NEEDED an arthroscopic debridement, it is the GOLD STANDARD of treatment....

Has NOTHING to do with the article you just posted about elective partial meniscectomies.....

Treatment of the Septic Knee Joint:

Operative irrigation and drainage of the joint
can be performed open or arthroscopically (depending on joint)
remove all purulent fluid and irrigate joint
synovectomy can be performed as needed
obtain joint fluid and tissue for culture

To the title of this thread: Duh.

Slicing and dicing is not the smartest thing to do just cuz your doctor "wants to."
