On Monday afternoon I went for a walk around my favorite lake, about 2 miles. While driving home I felt a strange sense of impending doom. At 5:00 I was uploading some photos I took that day when the chest pains started, the pain spread to my upper back. I suspected the worst, and googled heart attack symptoms then called 911. I began to feel hot and very light headed by the time the ambulance arrived 5 minutes later. My blood pressure was 50/32 at that time.
I was admitted to Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria (heart specialists), and by 8:00 they had inserted a stent in the plugged artery. It sounds bad, but the good news is that the procedure was done before much muscle damage had occurred, They discovered that the other arteries were ok, plus the hypertension I have been battling for years ...170/90 is now 103/59.
I just posted my experience in hopes of helping others...Time is so important to prevent permanent damage. Everybody should know the symptoms, and not hesitate to make that call.

Sanspeur, don't you dare leave us!!! We'd miss you terribly. I'm glad you were smart, and called for assistance without much delay. My neighbor has had stents inserted, and just recently needed to have another one. She is doing fine and has her old energy back. You will be OK, just pay attention to good, healthy diet.
That must have been scary! But kudos to you for recognizing the symptoms and calling 911. I wish you speedy recovery and hope this never happens again!
I have been asked to participate in a trial of a new drug called VIA-2291, that shows promise in reducing plaque build up in arteries...I'm thinking about it and will decide over the weekend.
I have two of the problems the drug may alleviate... Peripheral Artery Disease and Atherosclerosis. VIA Pharmaceuticals : VIA 2291
Sanspeur, thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. I think that many who have heart problems sit and ponder their symptoms instead of following their gut instinct that there is something really wrong.
You were so wise to listen to your body's signals and take quick action. You may have saved your own life and now may save others.
For one who battles the same conditions, I thank you! And, wish you only good health from here on out. Give a lot of thought to the drug trial. I was also in one at Univ. of CT Med. School. It was a blessing for me.
So glad you are ok--thanks for posting! I am especially into improving my heart health because of symtpoms very similar to yours, but they go away with anti-anxiety meds. I look up the syptoms too--glad you did and you are ok. Are you doing anything, ie; new meds to help with what happened? My mom had an angioplasty due to a heart attack, and has a stent.
Feeling hot and lightheaded also is very similar to panic attacks? I ask because when it happened to me today--I thought for sure I was going to die, but then I took 1mg of Klonopin and feel a little better.
???

This is actually an important post.... Things like panic attacks and muscle pain can mimic symtoms of heart attacks; HOWEVER, if you are not 1 zillion percent sure that it is not your heart, then you need to seek medical attention. If they do go away with something like anti-anxiety meds and you know you have an anxiety problem, then that likely what it is, but you still always need to be sure. But yes, people who have panic attacks report heart attack like symptoms.
