My ankles start to itch, only when I take my socks off for the night, after dinner. Moisturizer helps a lot.

Try putting lightweight socks on after you moisturize too.

I swear itís so annoying, to put it mildly.
You could also try Benedryl gel. We keep a tube around for insect bites anyway. Strangely, the shin of the leg I just had some surgery on this year has been itchy for apparently no reason, and the Benedryl helps that.

Probably right. I'll have to notice if happens when and if the weather warms.

I'd check with my Dr. for diabetes and also with a dermatologist.

My Dr. discouraged me from using Gold Bond....try Nivea cream.....or even olive oil.....with socks on.

Also, wash your sheets in hot water and do not use softener....just to see if that helps.

I have diabetes and my feet itch sometimes at night. My A1C isnt bad -- in fact, good eating has gotten it down to the 6 range -- but the itching is still there.

This was one of the things that made no sense to me when I looked up possible causes and diabetes came up.
My blood sugar has always been low. Like 63. That possibility never entered my thoughts. I’m not due for bloodwork until July. I won’t request it diagnostic as the cost would be tremendous.

My mother apparently had it for years undiagnosed. It came up in her autopsy when she passed at the age of 56.

I tried the Benadryl spray at the first sign they were starting to itch. It did work pretty well. I’m hoping that’s a positive sign.

I have it too especially in the winter all over my body. It's severe dry skin and it too only happens to me when I lay down at bed time. Me and my mom's side of the family are prone to having dry skin. best thing to do is don't take hot showers, warm is best, shower every other day but make sure that you wash the important parts everyday using a wash cloth. Don't use harsh soaps that are drying to the skin, I use dove or St.Ives Body wash. after getting out of the shower put baby oil all over your damp skin. If you are woman use a cheap conditioner that you would use on your hair to shave your legs with. You can also put cream on your body after you shower if you don't like baby oil. I have also used Nivea in shower body lotion and that helps. Have your SO put cream on your back too. I also Use free and clear laundry detergent.
