Well she got the text results back and the doctors say they couldn't find anything wrong that would be causing it. Do you think that's true though? Sleeping for 12 hours a day seems very irregular and I feel that there must be something causing it.

12 hours of sleep really isn't overly crazy if you are doing things to tire you out during the day. Some need more than others no matter what.

Right and in the winter (especially in Canada where the OP lives), people get less sunlight and tend to be able to sleep more. The OP said this problem started in the summer. OP, has she started to improve now that it is getting to be warmer and there is more sun? If she was going to work and coming home when it was dark, no wonder she was so tired.

Oh actually she has started to get a little better the past couple of weeks so maybe. What does getting dark have to do with it though? I go to sleep the same time every night, winter or summer, dark or light. Does lack of sunlight actually effect some people?

Yes. Here's a link with info about Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD. It can range from mild to severe. Milder forms are self-treated with light therapy, diet including more vitamin D, exercise.
