I'm not sure if it's because I workout often. Maybe it's because I do a lot of walking with a heavy backpack. Or maybe it's my posture and slump in my seat at work.


During this week I've felt aches in different places of my body. One day it was my my shoulders, next day it was my upper back, next day it was my knee, and today it's my lower back. It seems like all this started like 2 months ago with my upper back when I wore an ill-fitted blazer.



Anyway, I'm thinking about trying yoga. Will this help? And should I just do this at home or should I go to a yoga studio? Also, I would like to avoid any spiritual yoga. I just want to do some technical stretches to resolve any aches.

There are different types of yoga. You probably want a yin/restorative type that will focus more on deep stretching. Most studios (even power yoga places) should offer them. Have you tried foam rolling? That might also help. You can get a roller online and there are lots of good tutorials on YouTube. You can’t really roll the lower back but in many cases the tightness is in the glutes.

Have you tried getting a professional massage? And, yes, try yoga. I, too, couldn’t care less about the “spiritual “ aspect of yoga. Just stretch me out. Try several different teachers. Some are less “yoga-y” than others.

Are you consuming enough potassium and/or magnesium every day? I find that I get a lot of aches and pains when I don't, especially the latter.

Definitely go to yoga studio. Teacher will guide you so the postures are done correctly.
