So I had a colonoscopy today and a few hours after I got a really sore throat and it's still sore. I read that can happen but anybody know why? Was it the drugs they used, I heard the doc say propofol, or was it the oxygen they blew up my nose?

Thanks

Listerine gargle will fix it.

This morning it's turned into a full blown cold / flu, guess I was run down and the colonoscopy sent me over the edge...

Probably had the flu virus in your system before the colonoscopy and the emptying of your system with the colon prep weakened the system enough to actively trigger the virus.

I bet your full-blown cold disappears later today or tomorrow morning. It's a side effect of proprofal and it happened to me too. I was fine the next day. Who knew?

I'd love it if it went away quickly, and yes I think I just figured out that it is the propofol...since I have a fever and aches and pains I cancelled my weekend plans to go away ...bummer!
