First I'd like to request that ONLY those who have had a total knee replacement in the past 3-4 years respond. Not second-hand stories from your friend's grandma, or someone "you know" who had one, or something you read or heard about. Not hip replacement surgeries. Only actual TKR-recipients need reply to this post.

As added by the mod in another post:"Please reply to the OP's topic. Do not ramble on about your own experience and complaints. Keep your comments helpful and pertinent."

That said, if you've personally had a TKR in the last 3-4 years, I'd like to know:

1. did your surgeon prescribe the use of a CPM (Continuous Passive Motion) machine in the hospital and during your in-home recovery (usually rx'd for the first 2 weeks)?

2. if you did use a CPM machine during recovery, what was your experience with it? I.e., how easy is it to use, how long per day did you use it, did you use it while sleeping at night? Most importantly, did it assist in pain relief, and do you think it made a positive impact on the speed and outcome of your recovery? Pros/cons?
