This dialysis 3X a week is depressing. i get to sit in an uncomfortable chair for 4 hours while various parts of my body cramp/ache and by the fourth hour my head is aching and spinning as they try to extract 3 liters of water out of my system, not sure what i could have done to avoid kidney failure but i can say from experience its a situation i dont recommend.

don't kick yourself. I do not think there is much anyone can do to stop kidney failure. There are things that may slow it down but now stop it. I am sorry you have to go through this, but we all know what the alternative is.

jambo: A friend chose NOT to do what you are doing. She left us about 8 yrs ago or so. Her choice. She went thru 3 kidney transplants and the 3 rd gave her 15 yrs and then it went.

I would suspect with all you've been thru, you have researched everything on this disease.

I hope at least you have access to a support group of those going thru what you are. That can only be helpful.

In no way is this your fault!

I'm sure it's common among dialysis patients to feel negatively about losing some freedom and over the discomfort 3 days a week. Seems it'd be only natural.

You need to talk to someone, get these feelings out, before they drag you into depression....

Did you ask about a support group? Therapist to discuss feelings and options about how to combat them?

I am sorry jambo, I know this can't be easy. But my attitude is this - I NEVER GIVE UP. Never give up hope for anything. The body can do amazing things, I tell my body every day how amazing it is, and how I am thankful for what it does for me. I have healed from all sorts of things and at almost 70 y.o. am feeling better than ever. Miracles can and do happen, so live your best life and BELIEVE!

Isn't there a more convenient option for you............at home dialysis done nocturnally, or one of the
shorter-duration machines that you use 4 to 6 times a week?

Have you looked into peritoneal dialysis? You can read about it here. https://aakp.org/dialysis/choosing-b...neal-dialysis/

Also, kidney transplant?

Look up Dr. Robert Morse.

He has YouTube videos and books and has lots of information about the kidneys.

May I ask what your way of eating has been like for the last 30 years?

no, I went to specialists they told me nothing that can be done, they can only slow down the process of it but eventually kidneys will fail depending on the type of kidney disease you have and how worse it gets, I have high blood pressure and that's what caused it but it's genetic for me and had it since age 12. This caused kidney disease. I can only take high blood pressure medication but don't only because it interferes with my daily function including my job. I lost my last job playing games with high blood pressure medications. I tried many of them including supplements with the same negative side effect which made another condition even worse. Only one of them didn't have this negative side effect but it had a more serious negative side effect and that's higher potassium. After taking this medication it was the first time I ever had high potassium and the doctor said it was the medication even though I clearly remember asking her if any negative side effects could occur by taking the medication. The idiot said no. But then she changed her story after she noticed I had high potassium. High potassium is direct damage to the kidneys so I stopped. I don't do anything for high blood pressure only because I can't take anything at all for it. No medications and no supplements. If I do I will lose my job like I did last time. I already have another condition that makes it difficult to work and I am already close to losing the job. If I take medications then that's a guaranteed I will not go to work one day and lose the job.
