I still play video games on occasion (less than in previous decades due to time). However, I do this too and get it.

I want to check out some footage, I don't want to spend up to $60 for a video game (some of the AAA titles still cost that much), wait to install 20 to 50 GB of the game onto my PC or console, then play for hours to get to the point what the YouTube video already has available. Ditto to figure out what some people are talking about, cut scenes, certain eye candy, certain play styles, etc.

It's not unlike movies. I like watching people do things in movies as opposed to doing them myself for a whole plethora of reasons.
