Oh goody. I am in the end of the menopause period and so far, I have had almost zero hot flashes. Anything I have had have been like soft gentle waves.
It is my suspicion that hot flashes are a sign that something is wrong. Most of my friends who had them took birth control pills, which I did not.
I cannot take temps over 75 degrees which goes back to my childhood. Menopausal hot flashes? Can that go back to teens and 20's? Could not tell the difference when I DID go through Menopause.
Lived in South Florida in my 20's (long before menopause). and again in my 60's (long after menopause). Both times thought I was going to die.
Is this Pre or Post Menopausal symptoms, or just some women cannot take HEAT??? Raise the AC, or MOVE. Don't give me some pill for my "depression".

I just have problems with it being warm when I sleep, but some studies have shown people need 62 degrees when they sleep. That makes me wonder if it is really a hot flash at night or if some people just need much colder temperatures at night.

If one has ever had a REAL hot flash, one doesn't confuse it with merely feeling too warm. It's an actual vasomotor event complete with flushed skin, drenching sweats, and even faintness and/or nausea.

The first time I had one was in a cold Chicago winter and I perspired through a winter jacket. It was unbelievable. How could I feel so hot and sweaty on a clear, dry, cold day? Now I know.
Hmmm... I wonder if one can infer the opposite then. In my case menopause was barely detectable. Periods stopped but that was it for symptoms. Does this mean I'm at less risk for cardiac problems? For cognitive decline? LOL. I doubt it, but hey, in these crazy days I'll take the false hope.
Me too. No hot flashes or anything. Menopause was a breeze for me. I never had a difficult period either when younger. My husband always joked that he lucked out and never knew when it was that time of the month unless i told him, or we played around. No mood swings, cramps, etc. I wonder if easy periods usually results in easy menopause...

My mother had difficult periods but, when I asked when she started menopause, she couldn't remember because it was completely uneventful. She just noticed one day that she was no longer having periods. Therefore, I expected not to have a difficult menopause, either, but I did (to my surprise and dismay). I don't know what determines it, but now I know it's NOT "all in their heads." It's in our autonomic nervous systems.
