I'm new to this forum, and I'm wondering if anyone here struggles with eye floaters? I know most people have eye floaters in a "normal" capacity where it's not a big deal, but do any of you have floaters to the point where it actually bothers you and becomes a struggle? Because that's the case for me, and to be honest I feel like I'm ready to die because the floaters are driving me absolutely insane. It's that bad.
It all started about a year ago when I noticed a "fly" on the wall that kept darting away when I tried to look at it. I didn't know what it was at first, but eventually learned it was a floater. Since then, my floaters got worse (though they haven't increased in a while thankfully).
I have like 10 floaters in each eye, and horrible giant black blob that hooks out of my left eye. I did go to several doctors, but they told me that there's not much they can do. I've even tried to tell my fiance about it, and he acts like I'm crazy. The worst part is because I stream on Twitch, that makes it hard not to focus on the eye floaters. For the record, here is one of my streaming clips, just to show you the lighting (or lack of it) that I use in order to not see the floaters...

Does anyone else have a trouble with these horrible things?
I have one, but luckily, it doesn't bother me, it seems to appear when I am standing in the kitchen, & then I think a spider is walking across the counter. My eye doc, says he can't do anything about it, so I am learning to live with it. I think your fiance is mean to not believe you. I am glad the dimmer lights are helping.
I don't have major problems but have been warned by my ophthalmologist to be aware of an increase in floaters as it can signal a detached retina - that is more common if you are extremely near-sighted. Seems it can also be related to diabetes so something to check out as well.
My husband occasionally does. He had the ophthalmologist examine him for anything serious. They told him nothing was wrong, he would eventually get used to it. Maybe hearing that his eyes were ok lessened how much it bothered him.
Do you see an eye doctor regularly? At my annual exam they include a question about floaters. Maybe see your doctor.
Definitely see an opthalmologist. Not just an optometrist. My doc also told me to be aware of an increase in floaters because it could mean something serious.
I have floaters in my left eye that looks like a huge ring, since my thirties. All the ophthalmologists I went to did not explain much. I only found out recently through reading others' posts that floaters could be vitreous fluid or entoptic phenomenon, lattice or a huge Weiss Ring .

Big Business is Going To Try and Get You to Spend Big Bucks to Get Rid of Floaters. John C Hagan III, MD, FACS, FAAOBlank (2018 Oct 09)
I received a brochure today from a company ( I won't list the name lest they sue me). They are selling ophthalmologists a whole set of "new revenue stream" from laser treatment of floaters. This includes TV ads, print ads, in office video, financing. It promises big profits. Moreover since most insurance companies are not going to pay for it the company is pushing "Cash and carry" without having to bill insurance companies or accept Medicare. The medical research to support this unbridled promotion and hard sell is not there. But the company advertises more than half of all people have floaters and many consider them troublesome enough to spend big bucks for you (the surgeon) to try and get rid of them.
Remember risks of leaving floaters is zero. Remember the cost of leaving floaters is zero. The costs of removing will run into thousands of dollars. The risks include retinal detachment, vitreous hemorrhage, cataract formation, glaucoma and the floaters could still be there. This is a shameless hustle on the part of the company and doctors who promote this. BUYER BEWARE ESPECIALLY IF YOUR SURGEON SEEMS PUSHING THIS ON YOU.
I have many in my right eye and a couple in my left. Ones in right eye are pretty bad and I think there's more of them. The vision in my eye flickers up and down at times.
I have several in my left eye that bother me sometimes. I will think there's an insect near my face or on my shoulder, but there's not. They come and go though, so it's not a constant problem.
