I have had some great doctors lately that have followed up with me, even more than once but they are specialists not GP's. My GP has yet to ever follow up with me.
I remember when my late DH was in the hospital with a stroke, 1500 miles from home, one of his specialists called him as well as speaking to the doctor who was caring for him. I was quite impressed by that.
those days are gone VTsnowbird...you might still get lucky occasionally, but I've found (many times) that it's up to the patient to follow up. Docs are just too busy I guess.
That first call wasn't really a follow up, it's just to give you the results. They can at that time prescribe additional med giving the results or schedule more tests.
Follow up as in call you to spend time with you and discuss your issues further and offer additional health advice?
You are going to have to make an appointment and talk to them as a new visit and pay the copay.
I do have a PC doctor, as well as a cardiologist, at the same institution. It was after speaking to her nurse that I went to the after hours clinic, so they are aware of the situation. They all share the same electronic record keeping system.
.... They all share the same electronic record keeping system.
...but nobody ever reads it. "It's in the system" so that seems to absolve everyone from personal responsibility for knowing anything about your history.

Not al all. They're on salary and would just as soon see fewer pts-- they'll get paid the same either way.

Never assume that anybody is AWARE of anything unless you have a face to face with the paperwork in front of you.

Yeah, the billing department cares.
