I am so glad to see Yorkie Mom and Poprock are still smoke free!! I am proud of you both. I know you can continue on with this. Sorry to hear you weren't feeling good Yorkie Mom, I'm sure the situation with your husband is stressful, but don't let that be the cause of you smoking again! You are stronger than that! You've worked so hard to get this far! Keep on

Yorkie-Does that nurse know that you quit cold turkey? I can't imagine giving yourself nicotine again-seems too risky to me, since that is what you're actually addicted to, you know what I am saying? Like if someone quit doing heroin cold turkey then someone told them to 'take' something that had heroin in it to help with the~~whatever~~dang, I would not do that. There are probably some kind of appetite suppressants you can buy, I don't know what, though. The FDA is cracking down on the products making the weight loss claims, but they still might have that supressant in them. There are also probably some herbal ones that curb your appetite, but I don't know. I heard once that cinammon does, but I'm not so sure!! Do like those candies though! Sorry to hear you had the flu-even after a flu shot, just hang in there, see what happens...

I bought a box of the gum, but I haven't opened it at all yet. I also had a bad night, my daughter and husband were going back and fourth at each other, gave me the biggest headache.
I had to leave, I went out to find a cigarette, drove around for a while, then stopped at Kwik Trip gas station, I knew not to buy a pack or I would be smoking again. I went inside, mind you it is 10:30 at night close to 11:00 by the time I went in there.
I talked to the lady behind the counter, thank god she told me she didn't smoke, but she used to, and so we talked about what all happend, and what brought me there, she some how talked me out of needing one, after about 12:30 I went back home, thank god they were both sleeping.
I feel better about myself for not giving in, and thankful for the nice lady that helped talk me out of needing one.
I quit counting the days now, and just go day by day for now. I know it will only get better, but last night ughhhhhhh!!!! I don't need another one of those. Do they have a 24 hour call in place for people like us, that we would once and a while just need to talk to someone instead of going into the freezing cold temps just to talk to somebody, and get past the urge, or for extra support?????
I don't know if it was still the bug I had last night or what, but I am tired of this flu bug!!!!! I did buy more fruit, I had plenty of veggies, so I hope it also helps. I think a lot has to do with my husbands grown kids for his other marriage, and his court stuff for his injury, and being sick and tired of doing everything and then get run down by others while trying to be super woman, don't know if this makes sense, but along story any ways!!!!! Some day I will tell you all about it, if you have time for it all!!!!

Thank you everyone, so far so good today, even though I had a heated argument with my husbands ex wife, I guess she thinks my husband needs to dump his 12 year old daughter and myself, for his grown boy's that are 32, 28, and 25, go figure.
I won because I told her my husband was a big boy and if he chose his boy's it was fine by me, because I plan on moving on no matter what choice he makes.
After 23 years of her abuse, and her having his boy's do the same, I guess I have had enough, stick a fork in me I am sooooo done!!!!!!!
I feel so much better now, this is so great!!! It pays to quit smoking, and then take it out on people, who you have had a hard time telling, just how much they **** me off, and now it is my time for a little pay back, that not only makes my life more easier, but less stressful.
I feel soooooo gooooood!!!!!! Thanks to the angel who saved me last night, it is still hard some days, and I am not going to say it hasn't, but you do have good and bad days, some are just a breeze, and others, you don't want to go there!!!! LOL
Thanks poprocksncoke, I will have to give the number a try, and it is great to still have you aboard on the no smoking forum!!!!! GREAT JOB!!!!!!
I hope we are still helping others in their quest to stop smoking, this should help them knowing that they are not alone. ILNC thank you so much for your support, along with fuzzymystic and plaidmom, you guys are soooooo great!!!!! I am so glad I have all of you, and that you haven't given up on us.
Take care, I will check in later, I AM A NON SMOKER!!!!!!!!

Yay, Yorkie-vent some of that rage!!! Too bad for them, though! Seems like you picked the right place to stop last night, instead of some place that would have gladly given you smokes, taken your money and sent you on your way. I will tell you something that happened to me this morning-I woke up, thought-ooh I'll go have a cigarette!!! Then I thought-oh yeah, I don't smoke anymore. Notice, no exclamation point? It wasn't a WOW kind of thing, just an 'oh, that's right'. But anyway, you toughed it out, see, you can DO this!!

It also feels good to get some of this bent up rage, that I have stuffed down so low, up and out. I think my self esteem has even went up!!!!! I guess it took me this long to realize that it was ok to stand up for myself and what I believe in, with out feeling guilty. Yeah!!!!!
I say it is to bad for them, I gave them everything, my love, support, and my life, BUT not no more I am taking it all back, and I am putting it towards my daughter and myself, and what happens, well I guess happens, all I can say is, I feel like a heavy weight has been lifted off of me, and I can breathe, not only just with quitting smoking, but in gaining my strength ,and will power to live. I haven't felt so much alive then right now, and if it were not so cold, I would be out dancing in the streets!!!!!!
Why on earth didn't I do this before? Is it because my husband had me thinking that I would not be able to make it with out him? Or is it because it took me this long to get strong enough to stand up for myself??? I really don't know, just good to know that I am happy for today and I hope many more days!!!
Does anyone know of a nice state to move to, low humity, and not cold, I would like to move with my daughter this summer, no matter what happens.
I did talk to my mother tonight, the one who doesn't know I exist, but for some reason she is trying to find out where it is I plan on moving to??? I told her that I have had my fill of family, and was planning on moving this summer but I didn't know where, as of yet. It is kind of funny to see that when you are weak, people tend to control your feelings and don't want much to do with you. When you are strong, they tend to feed off of you, because of the unknown, and they know that they can't get their way with you.
I am going to come out of this a much better and healthier, happier, and a stronger person, not by being mean, just being more controlling of my own life. I think this forum has helped me look at my life through a microscope, and come to terms with what I really want out of my life. Who needs to spend money talking to some shrink???? I have you all supporting me, and making me feel better about myself everyday. Thanks everyone!!!!!!

I have quit since the first part of this month, it has been really hard some days, and others not bad at all.
First thing is to stock up on fruit and veggies, for your snack cravings, then buy some hard candy, cinnamon disk work great, but you want other choices in case you want a change, I heard lemon drops worked well for some. Gum is also another thing you can buy.
If you can't quit cold turkey like I did, then you may want like the patch or the nicorette(sp) gum. It is worth it, once you get past the first week, you won't want to go back, because the first two days are the worst, and then it gets a little easier each day. My house and clothes smell so much better, and my car smells like berries, it is heaven.
I said it wouldn't be easy, some days you crave them, and other times, you walk over to where you once kept them out of habit, but you have to keep on telling yourself, I AM A NON- SMOKER NOW. It does work, take deep breaths, go for a walk, and after you make it past the first week take yourself out and buy something special for the money you saved that week from not smoking. If you need support I am here for you, and if I think of something else I will post it. GOOD LUCK, I'VE GOT FAITH IN YOU!!!!!!!
