I know. I know. I'm terrible.
My mother has to move in with me and the re-arrangements and some construction have been going on for the last two months. She and I don't see eye to eye on most things so it's been really stressful. Tomorrow is the final move and then she'll be here to stay. It is going to be rough but I do have to start those pills someday and this weekend will be it. Promise. I'll report back after I start them. Thanks.

Cold turkey lasted about 12 hours, then I wanted to hurt my husband (more than usual.. ) so I ordered as a last result Nicorette inhalers. THESE ARE GREAT! No dizzy, no vomit, easy to use and wean off of and my husband survived with out a scratch, which is saying something because we both quit at the same time! You can order them online a weeks supply costs the same as a carton of cigarrettes so they weren't any more expensive than continuing smoking. Good luck!

Good info. I was wondering if there was something like that out there. I think this will be a good way for me to TRY again. For me, stress and boredum is a big factor. Having a crutch instead of food, may be the way. Thanks for your input!
Was there really no side affects? I had used the patch ( low dosage) did not smoke, but when I would sweat excessively, I overdosed. I even ended up in the ER with convulsions from it. Carried out of work on a stretcher. Really scared me.

Wow you had an even worse experience with the patch than I did. As for the inhalers...no side effects except for a funny taste in your mouth that you get used to...nothing bad, and definitely not as bad as the gum. The inhalers are used like a cigarette so you inhale it the same way...and like cigarettes if you inhale deep and long you get more, shallow and short you get less...so you are more likely to get around the same dose as you would a cigarette. The patches and gum give everyone the same dose and if the dose happens to be what you are used to they work very well...I just couldn't get it right with those. Again the inhalers cost the same as a carton of cigarettes do for a week, so you won't be out anything by trying them...and it just may work for you! Good luck!

I'm convinced it's more mental than anything else.
I quit a 2 pack a day habit for 7 years when I had no intention of quitting. I was having one of my favorite cigarettes, Sunday morning with coffee and the Sunday funnies when it struck me I didn't need that crap, threw half a pack in the garbage and didn't have a smoke for 7 years.
Did go back for a few years due to some extremely stressful circumstances but 'clean' again for over 2 1/2 years.
If you really want to quit it's not too bad, if you're only doing it to please someone else or you really don't want to in your heart you'll have a devil of a time.

I started back up due to stress in my life right now, I quit cold turkey and it was really tough for two weeks. Just wondering if anyone knows how much it is for the Chantix (sp) pillls. If I can find something to get past the first two weeks I think I can make it. Thanks for the help. Yorkie

Yorkie, The Chantix worked for me, I was a light smoker for years and years. My health and lungs are still good, so I just was thankful and decided to quit. Chantix in my area is about $150.00, but have heard it is anywhere from $50-60 cheaper in most other places. Call around your local drug stores before you get your prescription filled..Please just try the Chantix. It worked for me in about a week My insurance doesn't pay for Chantix
