For the past 2 months or so, I have noticed some right elbow pain that comes and goes. Now suddenly it hurts very bad. I went to the orthopedic doc, they took a xray, didnt see anything, did a quick exam and said golfers elbow and sent me on my way. I dont see how it could be golfers elbow, I am not athletic, I dont lift weights. I work on the computer day and night. I am starting to wonder if because this is all they see, they just throw out that dx? I don't see how I could have gotten golfers elbow? My whole right arm feels weird sometimes.
I had golfer elbow and I’ve never played golf. I do lift weights, but nothing heavy. It’s a tendon issue. Mine got progressively worse so I had a procedure called Tenex on it. I had it done in early December 2021. It’s an out patient procedure done in the doctors office. I had my done at UNC Chapel Hill. I had some exercises to do for about 6-8 weeks. I’ve been pain free since it was done.
Ignore the name. The condition got that label because people who golf a lot often end up with it. Basically, it's a repetitive motion soft tissue injury. Golf has little to nothing to do with it. Tennis doesn't either. I have never played golf (other than mini golf at someone's birthday party ) and haven't played tennis for decades. But I've still gotten it before. It's extremely common and treatable:
well, it hurts just to touch my elbow, my arm hurts, my hands tingle and my pinky feels numb. Advil and ice do not help. It's just getting worse.
I've had it on and off over the years.
A good physical therapist can give you stretches and strengthening exercises that help greatly. That is what has worked for me.
