I just had a 6-7mm kidney stone removed. Prior to removing the stone, 1 1/2 weeks ago, I had a ureteral stent put in. When the dr. removed the stone he tore the wall of the ureter so now I have to wait 2 weeks to have the stent removed. From what I have been told he will do this in the office. Can anyone tell me what this will be like? Do I need to take extra pain meds before going? I am really stressing over this. The dr. has given me Pyridium for the pain associated with having the stent and I have regular pain meds also. Any information or suggestions would be appreciated.

It's gonna hurt but the procedure is fairly quick. Don't take more meds than is recommended, but time your pain meds so that it's peak efficiency is around the time of the procedure (about 30-60 minutes before). If you're that stressed about it, call the office and ask someone to explain everything to you.

Thank you for your input anadyr. As for the meds, I am very careful about taking them.
