Thank goodness antihistamines do help me.
Thank you. I think over time my body will get used to it and the reactions to bites won't be so severe. Sounds good anyway.

I've heard that can help in some cases but we are talking about fire ants here...I sat in a hive when I was 11 or 12 years old when I didn't know about them. Those little buggers hurt!

My neighbor just told me to use listerine in a spraybottle to use like a bugspray, anyone tried that?

I'm beginning to sound like a broken record here, even to me, but ..

Oil of oregano or tea tree oil! Either one works like a hotdamn!

I've actually converted from tea tree oil to the oregano oil as I find it works a little better. Just one dab can take the itch away, or stings, etc. If not, then dab another time or two and voila! No more itch! Quite amazing stuff.

So you have a choice, you can either smell like tea tree oil and not only drive all the bugs away, but friends and family as well .. or smell like a Greek salad!

Default Bug bites and reactions

I live in UK so don't normally have exotic insects/bugs, but when we get a heatwave, strangers fly in and make straight for me. 2 weeks ago I was outside at beginning of dusk at 21.15hrs, and suddenly I was attacked by several, but did not see anything, just felt them. The worst was on my right ankle on the inside above the bone, and felt a bit like a nettle rash, but more itchy than stinging. The next day my whole foot, ankle and shin was swollen and was creeping up to my knee. Rushed to Drs who put me on antibiotics and antihistamine for just 5 days, diagnosing Cellulitis and although the itching, hotness and redness subsided, and the swelling is less, it is still swollen in my foot and ankle. But I did notice that the bite wound could now be seen and it was 2 teeth marks next to each other so knew it was something different from anything I'd been bitten by before, and has now scabbed over but not yet healed.
My question is does anyone in US suspect what bug it could be? Don't think we have fire ants here, been bitten by black ones and had no reaction - most likely something that bites with 2 teeth and goes for the ankles, It was not as itchy or longlasting as the normal gnats etc more painful

Probably grass fleas, if you got them in an area near where you live and never saw them before. Escessive rain over a short periiod of time can trigger a sudden local infestation of them. Take a couple of antihistamines (Benadryl) a day for a few days.

It is now August, and my bite wound still has not healed fully. Then last weekend we had another sudden heatwave and I was bitten right through my clothing on both legs - they are addicted to me it seems !!! One bite is similar to the other one that caused cellulitis, but never see them, and in this case never felt them bite me as itching began later.
At the moment I don't care what I smell of to get them away from me . Might try the ankle battery operated ankle straps that emit a sound which is supposed to repel them as antihistamines not working for me, and one bite is now spreading

Roll on winter - never thought i'd ever say that !!

Just a thought.........................

Ask the Pharmacist for "BETADINE" (surgical cleaning).

Have a couple of bottles from the Hospital that I had to use when taking a shower before Surgery.

LABEL...... "Kills Germs promptly in Minor Burns, Cuts and Scrapes"

I use it now for Dog Flea bites until I cross the bordor for some "Flea Bombs".

Had a couple of cans for a long time and recently gave them to a neighbor/friend and now could use them.....oh well.
