Default How to deal with Procrastination

Procrastination is a problem some of us refuse to admit. How does one stop or reduce the effects of this bad behavior?

I'm the King of procrastination, but I've learned that I need to set specific accomplishments on a daily basis, and then if I've done half of them, it's pretty good.

i dunno either ... my motto is, "why do today what you can put off until tomorrow?".
Seriously though ... i do things in my own time/timing. As long as the essential worldly tasks get done on time .... like paying the bills, getting the food you need, etc. and you stay out of trouble with the law, the bank and all the other wonderful earthly institutions, and your tendencies do not hurt other people, what's the problem? Who's to say what needs to get done and when? I'm not a machine nor a cog in the machine and don't put too much stock in highly efficient, super achieving people. I'd rather be in the flow and tuned in and in sync with my own nature and my own beat.

I do not know, since I am the opposite of a procrastinator. Not only do I do all my bills immediately, but I am early on everything. I am often weeks ahead on reports for work. However, I am anxious, don't sleep well, and always seem stressed to meet deadlines.

On the other hand, my wife is the biggest procrastinator I have ever met. She also appears very relaxed most of the time. Sorry, what was your point again about "bad behavior?"

Make lists of what you have to do.
Read the lists.
Then do it tomorrow.
Repeat.
(that's my way anyway..lol)

There's a procrastination support group you can join. Meeting dates to be announced later.

Seriously? I subscribe to the "one more thing" way of doing things. I tell myself I'll do one more thing before I leave work, leave the house or go to bed. At least that way I accomplish at least one more thing.

I am a HUGE procrastinator and it got me in some hot water when I was younger. I am always afraid I will forget to do whatever it is, so I find it's better to bite the bullet and just do things as soon as it occurs to me or I end up thinking obsessively about it until it's completed anyway. Has it made me a little type A, sure, but when it's done, I can forget it and enjoy myself.
