Taking a warm bath or shower. There's studies that say that the drop of body temperature afterwards helps to promote sleep.

Calcium and Magnesium are good things to start with. They both have a calming effect on the body and chances are you are deficient in them anyway. Valerian is a good herb to use. Melatonin works great for most people but I would try the other remedies above first.

I've been told by my Dr. that this works well for many people. Worth the try!! I found it at Sams Club but I believe it can be bought at most drug stores!!

There are some great baby bath washes that have the scent of lavendar in them...often called Bedtime something or other and they are really relaxing. I also find a warm shower at night really loosens me up and makes me relaxed... try that with the baby wash or something more grown up if you like (I use the baby stuff since I have it in the house... )
