Lets see now, birth control pills have not helped me, oooops, I'm the wrong gender. Kidding aside, I just had spinal surgery (laminectomy) in Aug for numbness etc. Numbness on the thigh is probably from the pressure you placed on the thigh for support on the ladder. If you were to try on your own pressing with a finger tip on your lower back above the tailbone (L4-L5) area, you could recreate a numbness on your thigh as I have done in the past. Lucky for you, it should go away shortly. Nerve pressure is tricky. Steve
As stated, please see your doctor. I had been having health problems over all of 2007, none seem related, problem seeing, hearing, stiffness in various joints, numbness, etc. In early July, following my move from SoCal to PA, I woke up and was totally numb from the breastbone to the middle of my thighs. Due to the move, I thought I had just "strained" something, so I let it go for a few months. Finally, went to doctors, specialist, etc. Had a spinal tap and biopsy. Finally told that I have "something" (apparently there are literally thousands of nerve disorders and neuropathy) similar to MS, but not MS and that all they could do is watch and wait. Well over a year later, I am now numb all the way to my feet and tend to fall alot. I will just keel over without any warning. Also, my hands are stiff alot of the time. Please go to a doctor, I feel that without medical help and my medications, I would be much worse off than I am today. By the way, I am not quite 60 years old.
There are a bunch of nerves in and around the spine. The L3,L4,L5 are just above the tailbone. I can use two finger tips and massage on each side of the spine in a rotary motion that will change the numbness in my right foot. The area will get warm. It is like a relaxation/sleeping feeling which is temporary with the numbness returning after two-three min. Stimulation on the left side has caused a slight pain in the right foot. There are also two pressure points on my right knee, that when pressed on will cause pain in my toes. Like I said on a previous post, I have a different pain every morning starting at about 5 A.M. on. I can only contribute this to the Laminectomy surgery I had in Aug and as such will take time for all my damaged nerves to reheal, possibly up to 1-1/2 yrs. Steve
Thank you for all the responses. I went to my Doctor today and she explained what happened(?). Anyway I did a little nerve damage from the ladder when I was painting. She said as long as there was no pain I'm OK and it could take upto 6 months for the numbness to go away. Other than that I'm healthy as a horse, lol.
I myself am dealing with numb legs since before Christmas. There is no pain, but at times my legs feel like they could give out. I had an MRI right before Christmas the Dr found a shadow on my hip that turned out to be nothing. I've been on Steroids, muscle relaxers none of which help. MS scares me to death I watched my mother go through that and eventually die from complications of MS.

How sad, did the doctor even recommend you see another doctor, a nerve specialist of someone more experienced??How long has this been happening?
You should see another doctor because this is something you can not fix on your own. may be it is neuropathy. Neuropathy is the dysfunction of any peripheral nerves, it causes numbness; ranging from mild to severe, feels like pins needles in the body, muscle fatigue, limbs feels like hot or icy cold alternately.
Hi,I know this post is older but I was wondering if u ever found out what ut was? I also have constant numbness in both mid-outer thighs above my knees. I've had this for a few years now. I have seen my pcp, psin management & had an mri on my lower back. They said I have sciatica & a protruding disk. All I've done for it tho is pain meds. But this numbness us literally non stop! I also don't know if it's related but on the front-inner thigh on my left there's only 1 certain area that itches quite often
4 for no apparent reason. In the past I've been told by a chiropractor that I have scholiosis also. And on top of all that I've also been diagnosed w/fibromyalgia. If I stsnd too long tho & go 2 bend or sit it gets this pain in my thigh as if I had a pen in my pocket &it's digging fown my thigh! Idk what that us either! Plus I may be wrong but it just seems like having constant numbness can't be good in the long term sense..can it? Like I dripped ice cream 1 day & my daughter had 2 tell me it was there. I sure didnt feel it! I def can't even work anymore! I can't do a lot of thing's anymore,! It's hard 2 deal w/mentally as I just turned 42!
