I am fortunate that I developed my severe allergies as an adult, it's hard enough to deal with it as an adult let alone a child. Whenever I go out to eat I inform the waitress that I am allergic to peanuts and soy and very often they respond by saying the will let the cook know...but they don't write it down on the ticket! Should I ask them to? I just think there is too much room for human error here....the waitress can forget to inform the cook and the cook doesn't remember which dish is the allergy concern. Maybe I'm just being paranoid but I have to be! Also, I've had family members (who are fully aware of my allergies) bring over a cake covered in nuts...geee, what a nice gesture to put the host into anaphalactic shock!
