Have to find SOME way to survive your teen's years while keeping your sanity! I think I'll start another thread....

Sleeplessness- I had forgotten all about that. For me, that was worse than my hot flashes, unless I was having a hot flash and then that was worse! My mom told me that she would have to change the sheets some nights. I lucked out, I guess. But I can handle almost anything if I get a good night's sleep and not sleeping made me miserable.

I just take something like Tylenol PM and at least I'm not waking up at 2:30 - 3 a.m. and not going back to sleep. It may take a while, but I do go to sleep again for another 3-4 hours. "They" say it's not addictive, but I can definitely tell the difference when I don't take one (and I only take 1, not the 2 that is the supposed dosage).

Dirty martinis work for me. 8 or 9 and I sleep like a baby... I think it must be the olives.

But really, not menopause related, but sleep related- I was given a mild sedative and it made me groggy the next day so I didn't take them and just would wake up at 3am. A few years ago a dentist said that I needed a night guard because I was grinding my teeth at night. Once I got used to it, it makes all the difference and I sleep much more soundly. If I ever end up with a guy again, though, it will be weird. But maybe he'll have one of those c-paps, so it will be a moot point. God, sounds so darn romatic, don't it?!

I was in my late thirties when everything started! I can remember my doctor telling me that I was in pre-menapause and I said "I'm too young"! Well, I have been lucky, just small hot flashes (Did I really say SMALL), no personality change and for the sleep deprived nights I take half a sleeping pill or a few glasses of wine! Oh, and I write myself notes and have lots of lists to remind myself what I need, now all I have to do is remember where I put my list!

This thread has been a hoot! Thanks for starting it - it's nice to know we're not alone, isn't it.

I forgot one item, and I see noone else has mentioned. OK, I'll be the brave one. Hair. It's thinning in "some" places, but appearing in others that it shouldn't! I wonder if I could grow a full beard if I let it go. Wouldn't hubby like that?!?

Like my chinny-chin-chin?
Thank goodness for magnified mirrors. And the occasional waxing.
Got plenty of hair on my head, though. (Can't say the same for my brothers.)

Health Some Health issues are very personal, like the current thread on menopause. A model horse board my wife is on, with 98% female members, recently had a long thread about menstrual periods, a REAL education to read. Nothing stupid or salacious, but an eye opener as far as the differences of their experiences.

thank you mike for admitting you were here
