I'm the same way. If I get jolted awake it puts me in a bad mood right away. I like to wake up to classical music. I even leave it on while reading my morning paper sometimes. I really do think it helps me start the day off on a good side. Be a better side if I could sleep in but ya can't win them all.

Right, although classical would probably not wake me sufficiently.
I also notice that I get easily jolted out of any good moods I might have,so if I'm trying to listen to classical while driving and it's a horrible drive I suddenly become in the mood for rock!

But no matter what, 5 hrs is what I get, and it's not at a stretch. No medical issues here, just life! I'm burned out, and am losing my edge.

And I see I'm not alone. On this forum there are a lot of sleep deprived people like me! So, think about your average over the last year (at least, or more) and share: How much sleep do you actually get each day?
Melatonin works pretty well, though you may have to play with the dosage a bit.
