This drug already exists: it's called miraviroc (trade name Selzentry) and it's available from Pfizer.

I worked on the first protease inhibitor for HIV that was approved and every time I hear about 'cure' I ask them what other viral disease is curable...unfortunately we can PREVENT some viral diseases, but we can't currently cure them.

Education is so critical and making it clear to the population at large that, while treatable, HIV is still a dreadful price to pay for forgetfulness/neglect/carelessness - whatever you want to call it.
What is your profession? And how did you get to where you are today, like education, etc?
I hear that HIV is a weak virus, that like after the first year of infection it is very hard to spread? Is that true and that a condom almost always prevent the transmission of the virus?
I also have heard of biochemists doing research with alligators and learning how their immune system works. So eventually they will try to use alligators defense to destroy many viruses.

Yeah, but only temporarily. If they could make it forever, without having HIV figure out a way to pass the drug. Than it would be a great accomplishment.

Sounds like your not impressed with the current research Viralmd. Do you think in 10, 15 or 20 years something may come down for this Viral disease and others.

Anyway thanks for weighing in.

I am a physician, with certification in internal medicine and infectious diseases. I also have a Ph.D.

What do you mean by a 'weak virus?' It is absolutely NOT true that after the first year of infection it's very hard to spread. It remains a significant and real risk forever. A condom is very effective but I wouldn't say it 'almost always' prevents transmission.

I don't know where you heard about alligators, but that's news to me.

ALL antiretroviral drugs lose efficacy if they're used 1) with no other drug and 2) even used with other drugs if they're used long enough. The reason for this is that HIV is a virus that mutates in reaction to environmental (i.e. the drugs a patient takes) pressures very easily. Which is why the search for vaccines has been fruitless.

They are doing a lot more study on the so-called 'junk' genes, these days. I sometimes wonder what will come from that. I also wonder if we can, allegorically speaking, find a way to plug the hole in the roof through some clever genetic tricks, thereby protecting us from a lot of bad stuff, up to and including improving the lives of people who are older, before they get older.

Default 20 Years Later Still No Cure For HIV

You are most definitely incorrect. I read about it years ago in the 1990's then I read it online and was in contact with the lady whose father put the remedy together and it cures not only HIV but cancers, and puts MS into remission. It puts AIDS into REMISSION. It will keep colon polyops away also. I read about it in this brochure that was selling all types of books and booklets. Then it will help people who have MS, some will be put into REMISSION and it stops the BODY SHAKING that MS will produce because of the lesions in the brain. I do not know if I am at liberty to tell what it is on this forum. ALSO you dont know about CRODILE PEPTIDE I just read about it in a book the other day, this person had AIDS and the man had to drink I forgot how many vials of it and the man was FINALLY CURED, not in remission but CURED. As you know HIV was started in a lab to get rid of the gay population ( the men were not informed but they used them as " guinea pigs" then the world health organization took the vaccines and shot up african people ( a form of genocide) they the WHO went there a few times, I read about a few months ago, they put the "VIRUS" in small pox vaccines, and NO ONE HAD SMALL POX, they lied to the people and INJECTED THEM... this is all about Genocide. So then big pharma could make more money by selling these highly toxic drugs. Can talk more on this if you want too.

MS is getting closer and closer. The new series of Meds that are close to FDA approval are showing 70% + efficacy at reducing flares / exacerbations.

there is prevention. Keep your rocket in your pocket, and it should not be that big of an issue.
