I don't know if I would say dangerous, but it is concerning, and can lead to very unpleasant, serious medical conditions. I would suggest considering lifestyle changes that your doctor prescribes.

Do you eat a lot of sunflower seeds? I know this sounds crazy, but I have parrots and if they have a diet with too many sunflower seeds, they may develop fatty liver disease, which is potentially fatal to a bird.

LEVOW, I have fatty liver, also. I do not drink any alcolhol, am not diabetic, have unusually low triglycerides, and am at the lower end of a normal weight for my height and age.

I do, however, have Lupus which can effect any/all organs of the body and cause them to malfunction. My doctor first became suspicious when she found a noticeable swelling in my abdonimal area.

My endrocrinologist has told me that many people who are diagnosed with fatty liver disease demonstrate no detectable cause and that it can be a genetic tendency passed from one generation to the next. The most likely of these would be in a family where there are close relatives who have athereosclerosis.

Exercise and diet control, even if they seem to not be the cause, often do help to control the disease. I would suggest increasing your exercise and watching your diet closely for saturated fats and triglycerides.

My doctor, also, has me on a statin drug. This may or may not help your condition, but I would ask your doctor if this is something to consider.

I wish you the best of health.

I was diagnosed with this a couple of years ago. I was somewhat overweight. I ended up losing 40 lbs to put me down at the lower end of my normal weight range and changing my diet. My liver functions returned to normal and all is well too. The doctor said some people are predisposed to fatty liver even if weight and lifestyle are fairly healthy.
