I recently been experiencing medical problems that I think may be arthritis, but I'm not convinced it is. Looking for opinions.....
I am 65, have always been in perfect health. My wife and I go for a 4+ mile power walk every morning. A few months ago, I noticed my legs hurt, right at the area where my legs attach to the trunk, in the front. It made walking difficult. I continues to walk for a couple more weeks, but it was uncomfortable. I felt like I had engaged in a vigorous sport, like sore all over after a game of softball. I took a couple weeks off and it did nothing to relieve the situation.
It got to the point where my hands and arms hurt so much the pain would wake me up in the early morning hours. My fingers are stiff, and painful. My wrists ache, but most of the pain seems to come from my arms between the wrist and elbow, and elbow and shoulders, not the joints..? I have no pain at all in my knees or ankles, a little in my shoulders.
Arthritis would be my best guess, but I'm not convinced, since I didn't think arthritis could come on all of a sudden. I thought it was progressive and came on slowly..?
I visited a Dr and took all of the tests, and he gave me some Celabrix to try. That helped the morning pain in my hands and arms, but made no difference in my legs.
The Dr was satisfied and gave me a prescription. That made his job easier, but I'm not convinced that's the problem. I want to see a specialist, which I will, but was just curious what others have experienced.?
Can it come on that fast in so many different areas..?? why no knee, elbow or ankle problems..? Why pain between the joints and not at the joints..? I can understand my hand and wrist problems, since I made my living as a mechanic and abused my hands terribly for 40+ years, but why the hips..? I say hips, but it's really more at the front of my legs/crotch area. Makes no sense to me.. Though I would do a little research while I wait to see a specialist. I hope I don't have to spend the rest of my life like this.......

Something I might add, I see people asking if warm climates with low humidity help. I live in the desert, it's hot with very little humidity. That climate doesn't do much for my problem...!

A little odd to have symptoms suddenly occur in so many different areas.

As far as the groin pain, hip arthritis pain is typically felt in the groin.

While osteoarthritis is often a slowly progressive disease, symptoms can come on suddenly, wax and wane or worsen.

I would suggest seeing an Orthopaedist who specializes in disorders of the hip to start.

My bet is you are on a statin drug... that "come on all of a sudden" is a dead give away. Has your dose been increased recently?

When my knees suddenly started hurting 2 weeks into starting statin (Lipitor was mine), the doctor also gave me a RX for Celabrix but after reading the risky side effects I threw them all away. Aleve made my life (knees) bearable. I also suddenly started having pain in my feet and a grabbing pain in my ankle that would almost throw me down. I never knew what I would wake up to. When I quit taking the drug, my knees after 5-6 years of horriable pain, just as suddenly stopped hurting and so have the painful feet and ankle.

Another give away is when test are run, nothing shows up.. How is your memory? Forgetting words? Get confused easy? Feel like you are living in a fog?

IF you are on a statin drug, I strongly urge you to reseach it on the web, look for forums where people discuss their experience. askapatient.com is a good place to start.

(I am leaving for a month shortly and will not be around for a month)

Celabrix didnt work for me either.
Get an x-ray of your area to see whats going on inside. (bone necrosis possible)

If it is just arthritis:
(only advice if you are not on meds)
Aloe juice
Fish oil Supp
Arnica Montana 30CC
Yogi Tea - Joint Comfort

Those helped my joint pain from injury more than any script.
Including vicodin and percoets

But your hips could be bothering you from constantly bending over cars your whole life.
