How do I make a black eye go away faster?
I came around a corner quickly and bopped heads with my son. His very hard noggin hit me right on the eyebrow and made a big goose egg. This all happened yesterday and now I have a black eye.
Does anyone know how to get it to go away quickly?

Keep cold packs on it, on and off, to encourage circulation. You may just have to wait it out and put a bit of make up on it.

Great - that is what my husband said too. He is very sensitive about this because he thinks everyone we encounter thinks he is a wife beater now!

Rub witch hazel on it...pulls the bruise to the surface of the skin.

People used to put steak on a black eye. Not sure if that really works or not.

OK - it has been THREE WEEKS and it is finally, completely gone! It took about two weeks for other people to not comment and for the bruise to be completely covered with make-up, but three weeks for me to say it is completely gone.
Basically - nothing really helps except maybe sleeping upright for the first few nights. After about four days it quit getting worse but absolutely nothing I tried really helped at all (I admit, I did NOT try the steak as I felt like the only place I had ever really seen that done was a cartoon!)
Thanks for the suggestions, but it turns out that time is the only treatment!

It just takes awhile for the body to re-absorb the blood that caused the bruise! Glad it's gone!
