Is there anyone out there who can help? I work in social services with high needs kids. I am very comfortable with kids who have mental illness, substance abuse disorders, cutting issues, running away issues, abusiveness to parents issues. I also have a sexual offender and while it's a bit out of my league, I do ok.

I've been assigned a SUPER hard DD case. It is said the mom has gone to the governor several times and sued everyone. I have no background in DD. I've been putting off calling her as I just don't want the case and her expectations are that I "be in the house" a minimum of 20 hours a week. That is not my job.

Anyway, I don't really know what I am looking for in this thread - perhaps some feedback on understanding DD and the challenges with it. I've been told this mom acts like someone with that munchhousin by proxy thing (sp). Everything that is put into place to help her son is sabotaged by her.

Help! Thanks.

I am in the same field. Do you have to take the case? if so, i would talk to her first, see what her expectations are and be firm to her what you can do. if she doesnt like it, then she can ask that you are removed from the case. you'd be off the hook.
I've worked with similiar families. if this is really the way she is, it is sad for her child and will be stressful for you, no matter how hard you try, nothing will change. Good luck.
