I just realized that the baking powder I've been using for years contains aluminum?!? This can't be good. Did anyone else realize this?? Are there brands out there with out aluminum?

I believe you'll find aluminum free in a health food store.

Aluminum is in a lot of stuff. Check your under-arm deodorant.

But yeah, I have been aware of aluminum in baking powder for about fifteen years.

Is there a problem with it? It's used in such small amounts---it won't hurt you!

It has been linked to alzhemiers, although to my knowlegde no one knows exactly how. Other then that, I am not really sure how it hurts you.

Not sure if it builds up. If you are worried about it, then eat seaweed, as seaweed binds with heavy metals and carries them out of the body. Then again, aluminum is pretty light .

It's best to stay away from it...everyone claims to use 2% of this or a little of that and that the levels are safe. BS... they add up...generally we don't eat the right combinations to help eliminate these harmfull alloys from our bodies and over time...the damage is done. Also! Arm and Hammer has a great deodorant that's aluminium free!

Yup, its in there. Another toxic ingredient put in a food thats completely unneccasary. They will just hide behind the FDA who claims "this much is safe". As others have said you can find aluminum free in health stores and read labels very carefully. Gotta be a detective.
