Severe Toothache
I can't stand it. It has been a long long time, like 6 years ago sense I went to the dentist. I have some severe pain that I just start noticing 2 days before Thanks giving. i thought it would go away but on thanksgiving it got really bad. I can't even slightly bite down at all on my left side without crying out in pain. Now my ear and throat hurts too. I have been going threw one large tube of Orajel and I take 4 200mg Advil every 3 hours. I know it is way to many but that's the only thing I can do to ease the pain. I called the dentist the day after thanks giving but they were not open. So I have to wait until Monday. I have no apointment and I am afraid that they going to make me waite.
Is there anything I can do to help this?

unfortunately, you're doing everything you can do for your tooth. you need to see a dentist ASAP. most dentists will see you quickly when you're in such pain and will refer you to a specialist because it sounds like you need a root canal. i recently had the same problem you're having. the pain seemed to come out of nowhere and suddenly it was unbearable. the root canal is a painless procedure. you'll feel 100% afterward best wishes
p.s. why so long since you've seen a dentist?? insurance?? you should go every six months.

Painless experience? I have always heard the opposite.
Thanks for your answer. I do have insurance just "scared" of dentist visits. It is almost a phobia of mine. But I need to get over it or I will regret it. Like I do now.

If your dentist makes you wait without seeing you in a emergency;I'd cahnge dentist. Mine would come out at night.You also can look in the telephone book for one that hjas a emergency number if you can't wait.Most dentist can treat a infection and pack the tooth iof needed before a root canal. Root canals are very commonthese days and not complicated at all. The packing will kill the nerve so that the tooth is not waht dentist call a "hot tooth" as far as removing the nerve, That is because they can't deaden the nerve with normal deadeners.

You know what. I think I had a root canal once, 10 years ago. It was an army doctor and I remember they gave me something so I wouldn't feel it. They said it was very painful. Is it different noways?

I don't get paid until Monday, and I have a first time $150 deductible.
I know. My own fault for dragging it out. .

Nooooo;
Unfortunately,
it sounds as though it may have an abcess, (infection) and you only have Advil, I'm sorry about that. maybe some cool compresses will help with the throbbing pain, but use on the outside of your jaw (externally that is)
I'm a nervous wreck even thinking about going to the dentist;
if you are a social drinker, you may want to stay away from the cocktails
for now;
I can't put my finger on any homeopathic remedies right now, I wish that you had some real Ibuprofen, try and see if the dentist will call in some for you 800mg
Motrin/Ibuprofen
I hope you are feeling better soon
I know that you can't wait until Monday
