Question about Vitamins?
Hi All,
Question about vitamins and general? I went to GNC store, they are selling Multivitamin for $39.99, but in Costco they are selling Multivitamins for $14.99. Seems like they both contains same amount of every thing. Not sure if I should pay more and buy it from GNC. Just wondering what other people do, do you buy any vitamins from Costco or BJ’s? Also intersted in as to what kind of vitamins you guys take?
Thanks.

You get what you pay for with vitamins or anything else. I buy a vitamin made by a company called Shaklee which my mother sells for part time. They do regular tests for pesticides and contaminants. They are a fantastic company. I pay $80 a month but its well worth it to me just for the piece of mind. I not only get the vitamin but I get an omega complex and probiotics. Its called Vitalizer.

I buy all my vitamins and supplements from GNC..... I've tried other vitamins/supplements but they're not as good and caused some side effects for me.
If you're looking to spend less, there are plenty of places: Puritans Pride, Vitamin Shoppe, BJs, Costco, etc..... It is my opinion, however, that GNC brands are the highest quality. You can also save with their Gold Card. I think it's $8/year but you get some great deals for the first week of every month with it. I go to GNC 2x/year and stock up on all I need for the year.

Bj's has a vitiamin that basically has everything listed in it That GNC has.
The question is, what is the stuff they use to get to those levels? Is it the same quality? I can't say for sure. Neither one is a natural vitamin source, but still...someone should do a lab test.

If you call Costco or whoever else, they will tell you who their pharmaceutical supplier is. For instance, in this country, there are like five pharmaceutical manufacturers for all baby formula sold. I am sure there are more than five brand names. My experience has been that most company's private labels are manufactured by some of the subsidiaries of major manufacturers. Find out who makes it if it doesn't tell you. Then go from there. I do not think you have to worry much about quality. I am sure its not low grade dollar store type stuff. Check the amounts of the components important to you and go from there. It depends on what you are looking for in a vitamin and why you want to take it but if its just amounts of ingredients and if they are identical, save some coin.
I used to buy vitamins from GNC and they were fine. I was happy with them. But I got tired of spending the extra money and since I was just looking for a decent vitamin that did not cost as much, I stopped getting GNC brand.

Unless you show a deficiency on a blood test and eat a normal diet you really have no need of vitamins. If you still feel you need a supplement I suggest an inexpensive one. The only supplement that has shown any promise of health benefits is fish oil and if you elect to take it I suggest a good quality fish oil.

Samnyc.....If your diet is fairly well then the less expensive kind ought to be fine. I've taken supplements for over 20 years now and i know that they have staved off aging etc...and will take them till i drop dead hopefully in my 90's/100's (For me it's NSI brand at Vitacost).
