Wisdom Teeth.....grrrrr
Here's the deal.....never have I ever had an issue with my teeth....they came in strait, never had braces, never even had a cavity or any kind of work done ever....except for sealings when I was like 6. Now though...my bottom wisdom teeth are coming in and they friggin hurt doc says I have to get them out but he says I should just get all 4 out eventhough my top ones are totally strait and I've had no issues.......
so, I guess i'm asking if anyone has had all 4 our how much worse is it durring/afterwards?? Will having 2 out save me pain at all?? I know it depends on the person but just in general I guess.....
Thx guys

chances are, you'll be fine. Typically, its no picnic, you'll have some pain for a few days but it'll be bearable and worth it.
Im assuming they have done xrays and all before hand to check on roots and whatnot? I had similar teeth to you, no cavities, no probs, sailed through life w/o ever needing a dentist besides routine cleaning til I hit my 30s. Then for some reason, started having issues w/my wisdom teeth that Id never bothered to get yanked. I should have....ended up i have weird roots and canals and my roots were not only all twisty and weird, but really long by then and were up in my jawbone. they ended up having to remove part of my jawbone with 2 of my wisdom teeth.(not the bottom two, whew!) Now, the good news is, as gruesome as it all was, they TOTALLY put me out. I went in, layedd on the chair, they put me to sleep, and I woke up a second later and all 4 teeth were gone. Honestly, i had one of those worst case scenerios w/the whole process, but inside a week, i was fine. THey gave me great pain meds, i only used em the first 2 days, then advil for a day or two, then none. And Im so glad i got it done. I was getting intermittent pain from it. He did say it would not have been nearly as bad if i would have gotten em out years ago. So STOP procrastinating! okay? You dont want em getting issues.
my husband was totally freaked out after I got mine out, he's even worse about dentists than I was, and it took me 3 YEARS to get him to go get it done.....then after he did, he was all "that wasnt so bad!" and was all ready to go out to lunch a few hours later. (and this is the guy who when he gets a cold, he lays there moaning about his Broncitus, or Pnemonia that hes just positive he has. lol )
get it done, let us know. Im totally rooting for ya (no pun intended lol)

I'm 39 and 2 years ago I had 3 of my wisdom teeth pulled. They knocked me out and when I woke all was fine. My mouth was a little sore the next day, but nothing major. The stitches were the ones that disolved. I had no bleeding, nothing. The only problem was not being able to chew for a day. Jell-0 and mashed potatoes get old real quick. By the next night I couldn't stand it and we went to Applebee's and I got real food.
You should be just fine. Believe me, I had a HUGE fear of the dentist and didn't go to the dentist for 10 years. I survived and you will too. All my teeth are good.

I had 8 wisdom teeth cut out of my jaw when I was 16. It wasn't that bad, I missed a couple days of school. The pain wasn't that bad after the first day. I'm sure it would have been even less if they had been pulled versus having them surgically removed.

Do it now -- I had all 4 out at once BUT I waited several years even though the dentist recommended removal, until I started having problems with infections and such. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Unfortunately, the bottom 2 were growing sideways, so it wasn't any fun -- be careful of what they call dry sockets.

You get dry sockets from sucking on things like straws and cigarettes. If you smoke and you are not willing to stop till the bleeding stops and holds you gotta keep those holes covered. My dentist gave me a syringe to clean them out. If you are occasionally in pain from these teeth get them out of there. I suffered for way too long before I finally did it and it was easy even though I had dry sockets.

Makes no sense to keep the other two since the two upper wisdom teeth won't be in occlusion with any teeth on the bottom, they're useless, get them all out.
