Default Low cortisol treatment

My sister is starting to look into this as a possible cause to 8 years of issues that have boggled her doctors. It may be a long shot, but various allergy, thryroid, anti-depressant tests/therapies have been unsuccessful. Just looking for any words of wisdom from those who have gone down this road. Yesterday was the first time she brought it up to her allergist and he scoffed at her, and just said, "I don't even know how to request a test for that. You may just be allergic to yourself." Thanks.
