Actually, when fructose is digested (whether it be from fruit or HFCS) it can only be digested/metabolized in the liver. Glucose on the other hand, can be metabolized by every cell in the human body.
One would be hard-pressed to believe that it is healthier to consume large amounts of an artificially created sweetener that ultimately overwhelms the liver as opposed to eating non-processed cane sugar/maple syrup/honey that can be metabolized by the whole body on a infrequent basis....
