Any ideas - chronic fever and low immunity (catching everything) in child
My 7 year old daughter has been sick since the end of December. First she had Fifth Disease (not serious, but made her very tired, etc.); influenza A (prescribed Tamiflu); sinus infection (prescribed Augmentin); influenza B (temperature went over 106; back to Tamiflu); UTI presumed caused by diarrhea (prescribed a sulfa antibiotic). She's been on the latest antibiotic for about 5 days and is still running a constant fever of around 100. She's tired and "rashy" and has lost 10% of her body weight (5 pounds). They just did a mono spot and CBC and both were normal - they are waiting on Epstein-Barr. So I'm wondering: taken as a whole, what would make a child catch everything in sight like this? Why would a fever persist despite antibiotics? Is there something the doctors aren't considering - Lyme (not considered an issue here) or cat scratch fever, or something a little bit different? Thanks for any suggestions!
