Default Need help on getting a new health plan and so on...

Well,I got a notice that talked about COBRA,but I never got around to it. Since,it has been about two months now,so I am looking for an alternative solution to get coverage.

Information about me is that I am looking for a job,but otherwise I am kind of healthy for a 19 years old male, but I got some warts on my toe that I went to the doctor twice before and he sprayed liquid nitrogen on my toe. My warts are still there and it spread to two more toes.

I don't know what a $1,000 deductible mean for a health plan, does it mean for every doctor apoointment that I have or that the amount that I have to pay out of pocket per year?

I basically need a vision insurance,dental insurance,and health insurance!

It depends on the specific health plan and how it's structured. It may be a $1000 calendar year deductible with a 80/20% split on doctor's visits, meaning all your appointments will be out of pocket until you've paid up to $1000 and then the insurance covers 80% after that.
Usually the higher the deductible, the more affordable the premiums.

$1000 deductible is the amount you pay out of your own pocket before the insurance pays - not per dr visit but overall. Then there's what's called an out of pocket max (also called coinsurance max). So if the plan pays 80% then the 20% that's left of the covered expense would accrue towards your out of pocket max. Once the max is met, claims are paid at 100% (unless you have a plan with multiple pay levels).

There are also plans that have copays on dr visits. So if there's a $20 copay, you would pay $20 and then the insurance would pay their portion.

Other thing is knowing if the plan has preferred provider discounts. Using preferred providers can really save money. If the dr has a contract with the insurance company to only charge $125 for an office visit but they normally charge $175, they can't bill you for the $50 difference. It's a discount amount that is written off.

For someone healthy, it's a good idea to look into a high deductible plan. You get lower premiums the higher the deductible/coinsurance combination.

COBRA can be very expensive. Individual health plans and short-term medical policies are available from many companies.

Good luck in your search.

I have used Assurant Health many times as a temporary health plan. You can choose your deductables, which makes your rates lower, and you can do everything online. This is temporary insurance, so you also have to choose how long you want coverage for. Once your policy expires, you can't renew it, but you can apply for another short term policy. Check it out: Health Insurance for Individuals and Families from Assurant Health. I think that if you get other coverage within your polcy period, you can cancel and get a refund for the remander of your premium. Check it out to make sure that's correct. Good luck!

Is there a way to decrease the amount for the deductible while paying for a health plan that is $300 per month or so?

Since,$1,500 to $2,000 USD seem to be a lot for a deductible esp. for a person who doesn't have a job, right now.
