One of the stated olive leaf benefits is the anti parasitic qualities. With statements like curing worms, malaria and dengue fever for just a few, OLE may prove to be very effective against lyme disease and associated co infections. One being bebesiosis which is very similar to malaria.
You may want to add to you health oil routine Carlson lemon flavored cod liver oil. There is absolutely no fish flavor, so if you are from the generation who remembered their parents giving it to them let go of the nightmare.
I feel it's never just one thing and variety of items in our approach to better health is well rewarded.

Olive Leaf is also taken by people who feel they are getting sick to boost their immune system. Its an excellent herb.

A couple times a week, I cooked pasta and used extra virgin olive oil for sauce rather than marinara sauce. Sometimes I'll put in half marinara sauce, and half olive oil. After a couple of weeks, I noticed in the mirror my skin looked healthier...kinda like my face was glowing.
Hard to link it directly to the olive oil, but I'm going to keep eating the stuff for now

Saturated and Monounsaturated fat are both very good for the skin and Olive Oil has both. Another thing that is very good for skin is raw egg yolks.

I've been using olive oil in most of the things that I eat most of my life. My family is from southern Italy, and most of them still are, so its a daily thing for us. I cook my eggs in olive oil (disgusts my fiance, but I love it), I put it on toast, use it in salads, pasta, soups, sandwiches, steaks, etc. I never really paid attention to the health benefits, but I started to hear it a lot over the last few years.

I agree with the poster 'Clean Cut Hippie' that it's good for boosting immune issues but it's not superior when it comes to the amounts of Mono-unsaturated oil which it in it'self is a benefit for heart health and also makes it's way into the trillions of skin cells that makes skin softer and also acts like a natural internal sunscreen as it buffers UVA/UVB when they strike the skin cell membranes.

My cholesterol is 404 and my blood presser is off the chart, my doctor has scared some sense into me. No more Biscuits and gravy, no more cheese burgers, no more fries, no more fried shrimp, no more crab drenched in butter, no more thin crisp, melt in your mouth Oscar Meyer bacon, no more fresh bread and butter, no more sausage, no more eggs, no more cheese, no more whole milk. No more sitting at the computer or watching the boob-tube. It's bike riding and walking from now on. My wife and I are determined to "turn over a new a new leaf"
I just hope the wind doesn't pick up and blow the leaf back over again.
If I could quit smoking cold turkey at the age of 19, I should be able to turn my bad eating habits around at 57 to save my life.
Broccoli tacos here I come !
Thanks for the advise on frying with olive oil.

Use caution when buying what you think is Olive oil. We also eat a lot of olive oil because of the health benefits, but the New Yorker Magazine recently did an expose of some Italian brands of "Olive" oil that opened my eyes very much. Apparently, several of the Italian source olive oils are actually different oils doctored to smell/taste like olive oil. They are not olive oil at all or only partially olive oil.
I was very angry when I read the article, especially since I ate MORE olive oil because it is good for health. BTW I think ANY fat in your diet will be good for skin and hair. If it's a large quantity of a "bad" fat then it just won't be good for your heart.
At any rate some of the producers/exporters in the article claimed that people weren't willing to PAY for real olive oil, so they mixed the oil to make it affordable. WHAT? I was aghast. I use a LOT of olive oil because studies said the oil is good for the heart! I don’t think they did those studies with a 30% olive oil BLEND. Anyway, it turns out the mafia is involved in several industries in Italy, and "Olive" oil production is one of them. I couldn't make this up if I tried. Here is a link to the article: Letter from Italy: Slippery Business: Reporting & Essays: The New Yorker
I decided to investigate, and turns out that AUTHENTIC olive oil, esp extra virgin IS expensive. But IMO it's so worth it. The taste of a good olive oil is delicious, even straight from the bottle! I will not name the brands I used to purchase, but I tasted one of them (it begins with a P, hope they don't sue me) and it tasted like mineral oil.
Well, I since moved on to try other brands because I was disgusted and annoyed. I now use a Moroccan extra virgin olive oil. It's about $20 a bottle, and it tastes slightly sweet and fruity (like an OLIVE) and is just wonderful. I also tried a brand of Organic called Spectrum and it's sourced from Spain. That's also pretty expensive, but I guess the Mafioso’s were right... at least about the price.

for your fiance add a small bit of butter to the olive oil to cook the eggs and he wont know. My family can't tell. I use olive oil to cook with as well have for a few years now for baking and for everything else I started years ago.

I saw on Oprah. The television was on. I wasn't really paying atttention, it was more of a television watching me scenario.
But I remember mention that at least a tablespoon a day of Virgin or Extra Virgin Olive Oil is good for the health.
When I bake, I use it, so I may be heating out the essentials.
But I also put it on food after it's cooked i.e., rice, grits, spaghetti.
I also use it as salad dressing.
Haven't tried it instead of butter (on toast).
I'll have to try that one.
