March is MS awareness month!!!
I thought I would post something since I have not seen one yet. March is officially MS awareness month. MS is an Autoimmune disease that causes the persons own immune system to attack the central nervous system, this can lead to many different problems from blindness, to numbness and tingles. It can cause you to stop walking, talking, and cause crippling fatigue (the majority of MS patients will retire early due to the fatigue). It is a progressive disease in which there is no cure. MS is not a deadly disease, but has the potential of being very disabling. MS is 100% different for everyone, not one patient will experience the exact same things. That is why it is such a hard disease to diagnose, and find a cure for. There are 5 approved treatments at the moment.
Here are a few links to get to know this horrid disease.
I by the way, am afflicted with MS. Right now it is very mild. I completely return to normal after each attack. I have what is revered to as RRMS (relapsing remitting MS) in which the majority of MS patients will be diagnosed with. I fear every day that I might wake up and have another attack going full force that will leave me permanently disabled. I want to participate in my Daughters life growing up, not watching it from the seat of a wheel chair, or from the couch. This is my only fear in life is not being able to simply live a life without fear of a disability that can literally come within seconds.

Thought the month of march, there will be bike rides, and walks in all major cities.
Sometimes MS is known as the "forgotten Disease" there is very little press, and every day there are more and more of us diagnosed. there are about 400,000 of us in the U.S. alone, with 200 people being diagnosed each week.
How can you help the cause?
There are walks and bike rides going on this month around the country, you can participate in the walk, or find a person doing the walk to donate through. The NMSS does fund raising, and takes donations

Thank you for your time reading up on this hideous disease.

Thank you for posting this. I am glad when I see MS type posts since it helps people know what it is and how we all deal.

It is not an easy life with MS, but I think we all deal with it as best we can, and make our lives as full as we can.

Thank you for such a wonderful and enlightening post. A friend of mine was recently diagnosed with M.S. She has been dealing with crippling fatigue for months. My thoughts and prayers go to my friend, to you, and all those who suffer from this illness.

I was wondering if some of you may be able to help me come up with ways to get more riders to participate. We have a large contact list from the MS site that we use to send out correspondences. I was just made aware that they're offering free training rides within our business park on Saturdays. I have the flyer from the MS site, but i thought I'd put together something of my own, together with the Saturday training schedule. I thought I'd start with a neat slogan like, "so you think you can't handle a bike ride", or "it's as easy as riding a bike".
I'm interested to hear some thoughts on something like this.
